On Saturday 28th July 2018 Mike’s Open Journal will be hosting the first ever Mental Health Blog Awards. Calm Man will be proudly sponsoring the Podcaster Of The Year Award.
The event will be held in Portsmouth where attendees will be celebrating the amazing effort, energy, emotion and work everyone has put into raising awareness, supporting, signposting, explaining and destigmatising mental health.
The awards, created by Mike Douglas, are to recognise and celebrate the bloggers, posts and campaigns that focus on mental health, whether that’s regularly or occasionally. It is not just about the awards, Mike has built in plenty of time for the awards attendees to talk and meet each other, celebrating their successes, whether they win an award or not.

The Mental Health Blog Award nominees did not have to exclusively be mental health bloggers. Nominations could and do include some Bloggers who have occasionally spoken about their mental health, or mental health in general, within a lifestyle (or other) post. The Mental Health Blogger Awards have been designed to be inclusive, not exclusive.
The event has been kept to a small scale to be as accessible as possible and meet everyone’s needs. The event has also been kept to this size to keep a realistic scale in place. The Mental Health Blog Awards will be attended by 30 Bloggers and 6 sponsors.
The awards event will be relaxed with a casual dress code and plenty of time allowed for those in attendance to talk with fellow advocates, nominees and sponsors.
Filming and photography will be taking place thanks to Beautiful Chaos Photography and Red Silver Mountains. This will aid the event in seeking more support for next years awards.
